Passengers on Marmaray will be able to use mobile internet for voice calls…

Operated by the General Directorate of the Republic of Turkey State Railways Administration (TCDD), Marmaray passengers will be able to receive mobile internet service with their smart phones and tablets, as well as make voice calls.

Service starting today MarmarayApproximately 450 thousand passengers will benefit daily. According to the information he received from the General Directorate of TCDD, Marmaray, one of the most important urban transportation projects in the world as well as in Istanbul, connects the European and Asian continents and Istanbul under the sea.

With a total length of 76.3 kilometers on the Halkalı-Gebze line, Marmaray forms one of the main backbones of Istanbul’s urban transportation with its metro, metrobus and tram integration.

On October 29, 2013, 5 stations covering the Bosphorus crossing and 38 more stations on the Gebze-Halkalı line were put into service on March 13, 2019, and the number of stations in Marmaray reached 43. Since its opening, nearly 600 million passengers have traveled on Marmaray.

“CONTINUOUS TRANSPORTATION, CONTINUOUS COMMUNICATION” IN MARMARAY

While passengers could only make one-way mobile voice calls at Marmaray, tube tunnel section and Marmaray Yenikapı, Sirkeci and Üsküdar stations, operated by the TCDD General Directorate, they could not benefit from the internet service of GSM operators.
